Education System in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, the government provides the textbooks. But we see more than 4.3 million children aged 6-15 years are not in school. There are around 42 million people about 26 percent of the population are still illiterate. Furthermore, school enrollment rate of Bangladesh is still high where the dropout rate is even more higher. In Bangladesh, the dropout rate was 17.2 percent at the primary level, 35.76 percent at the secondary level, and 21.16 percent at the higher secondary level. The big reason of dropout is that the quality of schools is not good. Further, in village most of the school student can not get enough facilities. The current education system of Bangladesh can not be use in practical life. Since, the textbook and curriculum is not relevant with the situation of the student.
In the past few years, there are a lot of experiments have been carried out for developing our education system. but the education system of Bangladesh is still stuck in the past. From recent data, Bangladesh are facing shortage of skilled manpower in garments, real estate, telecommunication, information and technology sectors. For this, Bangladesh government need to hire foreign workers. It is obviously the result of our ineffective education system.
Bangladesh's Ministry of Education make the education compulsory for all citizens until grade eight. But The budget taken by the government for education is inadequate, with a GDP ratio of 1.83 percent, one of the lowest in the world. Over the past five decades, Bangladesh has not made enough progress in education. Furthermore, The government don't make any effort to improve women's educational conditions. There are a lot of discrimination has seen in our school, college and even the University. Further, our admission system in bachelor program is not effective. For this, students sometimes can not study in their desire subjects.
The education system of Bangladesh is broken although it can be recover. Firstly, Government have to take more budget for education. Second, government must reduce the discrimination in education. Finally, government have to increase the number of people with relevant skills for financial support. Most importantly, social and family awareness must be need for an effective and educated system in Bangladesh.
